Teaching Kids to Compost

Exciting news! After writing My Underground Home I recently started teaching my kids how to #compost and it has been such a rewarding experience for all of us. Not only are we reducing our waste and helping the environment, but we're also learning so much about the science of decomposition. Did you know just sending 1 lettuce to landfill can take 25 years to breakdown!
If you're interested in teaching your kids about composting too, here are some tips to get started: #gogreen #sustainability #homecomposting #familyfun
1.
Choose the right compost bin based on your family's needs and space available. #compostbin
2.
Involve your kids in the process of collecting and adding food scraps, yard waste, and other compostable materials such as coffee grounds and eggshells. #reducereuserecycle #wastefree
3.
Provide opportunities for your kids to observe and learn about the different stages of decomposition. Get creative with games and activities that teach them about the science of composting. #STEMeducation #kidsscience
4.
Use the compost you create to fertilize your garden or indoor plants. This is a great way to teach your children about the importance of growing their own food and reducing their carbon footprint. #gardening #organicfarming

Teaching your kids about composting is a fun and interactive way to promote sustainability in your home. Give it a try and let me know how it goes! #teachyourkidstocompost #sustainableliving #greenparenting #science #learning #environment
