Franki and the Banksia is the most gorgeous informative story. I was so excited to read it to our preschool class, and it did not disappoint. They loved absolutely everything about it from the beautiful illustrations to the storyline. It sparked lots of discussions around Australian Natives and Native Animals. They loved seeing how the Banksia flower is able to nourish all the different wildlife. It has inspired us to plant our own Native plants.

Franki and the Banskia is a beautiful picture book that aims to teach our little ones about the importance of Native Australian Flora and Fauna.  My young children enjoyed this lovely story about Franki who learns all about the Banksia Tree during a visit to his Poppy’s property. He learns that many native birds, possums and insects rely on this tree for survival. We get a number of lorikeets and cockatoos in our neighbourhood and my eldest was excited to see these familiar birds in the book. The story ends with Franki planting a Banksia Tree in his own garden for the animals. We, of course. have been inspired to plant some more Natives plants in our garden now!!

As soon as I saw an Australian native themed book series I jumped at the chance to get one for my girls. Franki and the Banksia is beautifully written that tells a story about the importance of Australian flora and fauna to our children. The illustrations are gorgeous and left the girls wanting to learn more! I’ll be looking at the rest of the range for Christmas!
